Sleepless Night

I have had my ups and downs since deciding to do a Chapter 13 and last night was a DOWNER!

I replay all the horrible things about a Chapter 13 instead of the positive ones.

For instance, there goes the credit score for YEARS.   This is not a new fear, but it means that in 5 years when my daughter is looking for colleges I cannot be a co-signer for her loans.  That freaks me out!  I mean, she is not an A student and I don’t expect her to get academic scholarships!  However, she could get sport ones IF she applies herself.

Then I got to thinking about all the bills that are due this pay period – do I have enough money?  Who can I borrow from if I don’t?  What will I do if something in the Condo needs repair, like *GASP* a pipe leak?  Oh the demons of the sleepless night!

In the light of day, after reviewing my checkbook, I see that we have enough.  We are fine this pay period.  There are many reasons why this is a worry, but I expect things to even out soon and my budget get on track.

There have been extra Lawyer expenses that set me back.

Speaking of which, I meet with my lawyer day after tomorrow and that will be an interesting post!

Wish me luck!

  1. Don’t stress out too much about the student loans. I just helped my son’s girlfriend figure out how to get student loans (with the help of a friend who works in college financial aid). While her parents didn’t have a bankruptcy they had a very low credit score (lower than mine and I had bankruptcy 2 years ago!) and she/they didn’t qualify for any private loans. She was freaking out, but on her own (no credit check) she got a Stafford Loan and even with her parents low credit score they easily qualified for a “Parents Plus” loan to get her the rest of the money needed – at a lower interest rate and better terms than the private loans would have been.

    • Thank you so much for that information! So you survived a B K? Congrats! And thank you for coming by! You are my first commenter!

      • We survived a chapter 7 filed 2 years ago. It was definitely stressful. I did write a couple of posts about it on my blog awhile back. Glad it’s over, that’s for sure! I look forward to reading your blog, too.
