How Not To Look Old!

I found this book in one of the thrift stores this weekend. I actually had it before, I don’t  know what I did with it.  Hopefully, it’s not sitting on my bookshelf!  But for less than $2.00 I thought I would pick it up again.

It’s a good book, full of doable information.  You don’t have to spend any money that you wouldn’t already spend either.  At least I won’t.  I mean, if you have cash, by all means, go for it.  But if you are reading my blog, I think we are either in the same boat or at least $$$ consciences.

This book is geared toward forty and older, but I think the basic info applies if you just want to take care of yourself and have a classic look.  Not trendy!

She shows you what it looks like when you stick to old trends.  (See picture below!) But I must say, I haven’t worn dark lips since the 80s!  I tossed that out with the large hot pink enamel earrings!

Big difference right?  She looks fresh in the picture on the right!

Krupp starts all of her chapters off with “Nothing ages you like…”

“Looking too tan”  Remember that woman on TV about a year ago?  Scary!

glasses

Guilty!  I wear Reading Glasses. Okay, I don’t have a string, but I do wear readers.  As a matter of fact, they are constantly (as I type) on my head!  Quite a Fashion Statement!

I am so ready to start doing my own hair. I mean Financially!   As another matter of fact, I watched 3 or 4 YouTube videos recently showing me how to do it.  I’m just so afraid it will look cheap!  What do you think?

legs

This is such a dilemma for me.  I have no idea what to do.  In the summer, I want to put on a summer dress but there is no way I am going without nylons.  Gone are the pretty leg days for me. What is up with the knee area after 50???

So I opt for Capris and they make me feel so dowdy!  I guess its time to check out something like this.

I can’t now, because I am so broke, but I will and when I do, I will let you know what I find.  I bought my daughter a cream that gets darker by use, its really light. Maybe I will try that.

In the book they have these “Best Buy” sections.  Most of the stuff she suggests is reasonable and can be found at CVS and Target.  So I might get lucky!

The lady that bought this book before me highlighted and look what else I found of hers in the book:

She must have been loaded!  These are the directions to a surgery center.  Hopefully, it WAS elective!

I have shape wear.  I wear it and I love it. It makes me feel like I am more snug!  So I do this already!

Shape wear is far from your mothers girdles.  I still can see my mom jumping up and down trying to get into those things!  Winking smile

wrinkles

I use the cheapest face stuff.  I use Oil Of Olay Complete.  I read that it is the best daytime skin moisturizer you can get for your money and it works for me.  But I’m probably fooling myself!  It’s all about finance.  I also use Eucerin with SPF when I know I am going to be outside because that got great reviews.

I plan on working for at least another 15 years.  I am 52 and would love to retire earlier, but with a all that I have going on, I think I will be older, 67 when I retire.  So I am going to be in the workforce for quite sometime.

Guess I better pay attention even if I can’t afford to pay anything else. Ba dmp dmp!

What is your most important beauty treatment/product?  What can’t you live without?

Right now I am loving the hydrogen peroxide teeth whitening!  It’s working!

  1. I dye my hair with henna or semi-permanent dye (Natural Instincts). It’s cheap, covers the greys, and keeps my hair in good shape. Never let permanent dye touch it!

I love green tea, avocados, and fruit – it does help me look younger. I will be thirty-two in April and people ask me if I’m in college. Okay, sunscreen and white tea serum help with that, too.

      • Henna is inexpensive (relatively), but is very time consuming. I let it sit in my hair overnight. Your daughter will laugh at you. Your cats will sniff it suspiciously. Your hair will look gorgeous, thick, and the henna makes grey hair look amazing.
