After we had lunch at Gladstone’s the other day, I always try to go to the Lake Shrine. This beautiful little setting is well hidden but less than a half a mile from the beach!
There is a bit of construction going on now so the meditation room was closed, but it is still a wonderful little jewel to mosey around.
The Lake Shrine gardens were founded by Paramahansa Yogananda and you can read all about his life here.
A beautiful soul, I believe. At least, I hope he was as beautiful as they would have us believe.
He left a beautiful place, to be sure!
As you walk around the small lake there are statues representing all religions. I love that. I took only a few pictures of the statues. You need to be surprised when you visit!
The flowers are bountiful!
Vibrant and Sweet!
Right on the path!
This is a shrine for Gandhi! Yes, Gandhi!
Can you believe this?
A very special place.
It’s small, but it fills you up!
Nice and shady on a hot day.
Words to ponder.
Behind those structures are where Gandhi’s ashes are kept. (Part of them).
The lake has lots of life, coy, swans and turtles and more.
If you are ever in the LA area, I highly recommend that you grab your berkinstocks, maxi dress, hemp bag and an organic lunch and come and commune with nature on this little lake, next to the big ocean!
See you tomorrow!
