DMV Fail!

Okay, we all know that our drivers licenses expire every five years!  We know that right?

But do we pay attention? Well, you probably do, but I obviously don’t.

I didn’t know it until I was driving into a gated community last Sunday evening and the security guard informed me.

Usually, the DMV sends me a reminder… Not this time!

Believe it or not, it is over a year since it expired.  May 8 2013!!

FAIL!

I am off to DMV today to fix it and I thought I’d share these DMV tidbits with you!

I would so use that if I could afford it that is.

As well as…

I am taking my iPad!

That one cracks me up. 😉

So because I am SO expired, I get to get a vision test, a fingerprint, a written test of 18 questions, a new picture as well as a $33.00 fee!

Thanks DMV, but more than that, thanks old age for completely helping me to forget to even pay attention to the details of life!

GAH!

Check your expiration dates friends!

  1. Depends where you are… in MD, it can be 3 or 5 or 6 years. In Arizona, it’s 40 years! Yes, you read that right. Forty! And really ouch that it expired so long ago. Thank heavens you were never pulled over! Mine expires this year, and I’ll probably get it done at the same time I go get my new tags, hopefully by end of June.

  2. I’ve heard about the lengthy queues when your licence expires. I couldn’t cope with that, I’d probably bring my ipad too!. Here in the UK they make us go to a post office to get an up to date picture in a booth which they send off to the DVLA for us. I think because our driving agency (DVLA) is in Wales, which isn’t very local for everyone they allow us to pop into our local post offices instead. It usually takes about 15mins.

  3. Here in MA, our licenses expire every five years on our birthday. Makes it easy to remember, and if you’re like many of us, you can take your birthday off from work and then go in-person to renew.
