Weekend Update and a New Book!

Here we go again beginning a new week!

My daughter had her Homecoming Dance on Saturday.  I almost didn’t let her go to the “after party” or spend the night out, but I caved in the end.  They are a great group of kids that met at one of the girls house, took photos and then climbed on a party bus to the dance. (Everyone of the kids and parents had to sign a contract to board the bus, no drugs, alcohol, sex, etc).  Afterward, it’s a tradition for them to go and have burgers.  Then the bus dropped them off and one of the moms drove a few of them, including my girl, to an after party.  It was a dud, so they all went back and spent the night.   It was “the night she wanted”.  And wow, was she exhausted when I picked her up.

I went to one of those House Concerts Saturday, home by 10:30.  Winking smile  It was nice.  $20.00 and  a cheap bottle of wine.  I went with one of the new board members on my HOA.  Did I tell you I am now the Veep?   Help me!

Very sweet couple.

If I hadn’t gone to that I would have stayed home and read.  I am on a reading binge.

I went to the library to pick up the movie “The Secret Life of Bees”.  Meh!  The book was pretty good and the movie followed pretty closely.  Its just fun sometimes to read and then watch.

While I was there I saw this book on the rental shelf.

I’ve read her before, so I decided to give it a shot.

It’s a rental. A buck a week.

Beats paying this price!

I used to know people who actually paid full price for books, I have actually paid full price for a few myself.  But it is always a last resort for me these days and I HATE doing it.   $26.00! I sure hope the library didn’t pay full price either!

Off to get into my work week.  Pulled my back out somehow yesterday so kind of doing the old shuffle!  But at least I am working!

Have a great day!

  1. The funny part is from the pictures the “checkout” looks like of old school – handwritten book info, hand stamped return date. Our libraries are all computerized, self check out, bar codes, etc….and it’s free 🙂 Seems like ours should be charging and yours shouldn’t LOL.

    • I noticed that too! They only do that on the rentals, all the other book check outs are digital as well. I like the old fashioned feel of that. By the way that was a good book. Worth a buck! 😉
