Plugging Away

So how are you doing?

I seem to be doing okay.  I get up, put one foot in front of the other and make it to work.  That is key for me.  My illness gives me good and bad days, today is a good day.

Lots going on at work.  So it’s okay that I’ll work this Friday to make a little extra.  I have so many expenses coming up, its not even funny.

  • Car repair, brakes, air-conditioner, tags
  • Taxes (pay turbo tax)
  • Pay my brother back (partial payment only)
  • Wisdom Teeth Extraction
  • Daughters 16th Bday
  • Prescriptions
  • Golf
  • Spanish tutor
  • Cleaning service (  a need, a must have! )

The list goes on…

Thank goodness I have every other Friday off and can use it to make money or bank some comp time.

Ya know, some people in a Chapter 13 find ways to save extra $$$ and by the time they are done with their sixty payments, they have quite a nest egg!   I think they are married with two incomes, are able to keep their tax refunds and most likely, don’t have teen age kids!  Winking smile  Or… they are just better with money than I am.  Yeah, there is always that!

I scoot by every month by the skin of my teeth.

I could probably do a bit better if I make us live in complete and udder poverty, way below my income.   I just don’t think that doing that would be good for either my kid or myself in any way.

For instance, today I gave her $60.00.  I told her to go with her dad tonight and pick up a pair of shoes and some mascara.  These have been on her want list for a month.   Could I make her wait until her shoes have holes in them and the mascara is so dry its not worth the effort?  Yep, I could do that.   Will I live that way for 2.5 more years?  Nope, I won’t.  I won’t make her live like that either.

We just have to keep plugging away and doing the best we can.

So far so good.  I might not have any money in savings and as long as there is no major emergency, we can make it.

I do have an idea though.  Since I’m getting back more in my check now because I am going to change my deductions, I hope to transfer that amount to a savings account every month.  That might work!

I did ok (I use the term  “ok” lightly) without it all year, so I think that would be a good way to put it away!

Just keep your fingers crossed for us.

  1. Some days it does feel like dragging chains. The past couple of days it feels like boat anchors for me. I am a cheerleader, positive person, glass always 3/4 full but yesterday I stayed in bed with the covers filled over my head. I didn’t dress, brush my or my teeth nor did I clean. And today I am dressed and that’s all I can say.

    • Aw Gail, that sucks! We all have days like that! Pull up the blankets, turn on netflix and binge watch your fav show until you feel better. Just sleep too!

  2. I’m plugging along as well. This week seems slooooow, but that’s probably because next week is my Spring Break.

    • Spring break! Woo hoo! I sure hope you get spring weather!

Yes, this is a weird week, but if we just keep putting one foot in front of the other it will be over before you know it!
